Areas
What exactly we buy
We do not raise money “for good causes in general”. These are the four areas in which we buy targeted help for the people you see on this site.
An area is a category of the fund's spending, not a separate account you can pay into. Your gift goes either to a specific person you choose or to the common pool. What to buy for that person is decided by the fund helper and the person themselves, based on this month's needs: some need medicine more, others groceries.
Grocery packages
Food for families in hardship
Every month we put together and deliver grocery packages to low-income families and people living alone: cereals, oil, tinned food, tea and whatever is most lacking.
Medicine and health
Medicine for those who cannot afford it
We buy prescription medicine for people whose pension or social benefits do not cover treatment for blood pressure, heart conditions or diabetes.
Lonely pensioners
Care for those who are left alone
We care for lonely people of advanced age: groceries, medicine, household essentials, and the attention of a volunteer who comes back again and again.
People with disabilities
Support for families with special needs
We help people with disabilities and families caring for children with special needs: hygiene products, food, small rehabilitation items.
Who receives this help
Groceries and medicine are delivered to specific people
These are real people in the fund's care. We publish stories and photos only with their consent, and we use first names only, no surnames.
Where your gift goes
You do not have to choose an area yourself
Your gift goes into the fund's common pool, and we direct it where the need is greatest this month. A full month of care for one person costs ≈ $111. We pool contributions to cover this amount for every person in our care.
