A simple, hard-working woman who worked with her hands all her life. From the age of 19, a seamstress, at a meat processing plant, at the market. 40 years of work experience, and the pension is so small that it barely covers the essentials.
Life has not spared her: her husband died, then her son and daughter-in-law, one after another. She was left alone with a 12-year-old granddaughter in her care. She has another daughter, but she has a disability and cannot help. Now Semenivna is the child's only support.
Her health has let her down: hypertension, constant pain in her legs and back, every movement is hard. Medicine, groceries, utilities, everything is expensive. She has to save on everything so that her granddaughter does not go hungry.
Semenivna stays silent, endures and does not ask for anything extra. But deep in her soul she hopes that someone will see her trouble and reach out a hand.
