Mrs. Olha, 74

43 years of her life passed to the rhythm of the railway. She worked on the South-Western Railway as a level-crossing keeper and a track fitter, jobs that demanded attention, endurance and great responsibility. In any weather, in heat and in cold, she did her work conscientiously, because the safety of others depends on people like her.

Today her life is much quieter, but also much harder. A daughter with disability group 2 lives with her, who also needs support and help. She has no grandchildren, so the family lives as two, relying mostly on their own strength alone.

In recent years her health has deteriorated badly. She has hypertension, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Most of her money goes on medicine, treatment and examinations, so even ordinary household expenses become a heavy burden.

Despite all the difficulties, she tries not to lose herself in illness and problems. Her special passion is knitting and embroidery. This activity helps, at least a little, to take her mind off worries and pain and creates a sense of comfort at home.

Every time she waits very much for the fund's help. For her it is not only necessary support but also a feeling that there are people nearby who care about her fate.
