Lidiia Ivanivna, a labour veteran, is a person of great strength and a kind heart. After graduating from technical college she worked all her life at a radio plant, in the design bureau. The work was responsible and complex, but the salary was very small. At the same time she bore the care of a sick husband and her mother, so she had to constantly look for extra work to provide for the family. It was these years of exhausting work and constant stress that seriously undermined her health.
Today Lidiia Ivanivna is a widow with disability group 2. Despite her long work record, her pension is only ≈ $111. She has serious health problems: hypertension, fibrillation arrhythmia, diseases of the cardiovascular system and kidneys. She has had two complex hip joint operations. Every day she has to take expensive medicine to support her heart, vessels and kidneys.
A significant part of her pension goes on constant examinations, medication and utilities. After that almost nothing is left for ordinary living.
Despite all the difficulties, Lidiia Ivanivna remains a very active, sociable and sincere person. She has good relations with her neighbours and, if her health allows, always tries to help others.
